Phoenix Home & Garden's Arizona Style Showplace

Phoenix Home and Garden’s Arizona Style Showplace was held at Scottsdale Quarter this past Friday, Saturday and Sunday. It was a great show featuring all things beautiful, for the home, inside and out – fine art, cantera stone, iron doors, tile, florals, interior design & architectural services, landscaping and more.

Gary Smith, Ronna Nitzky, Dina Petruzzi and Ana Cordova taking a break.

Gallery Row

Just a small sample of furniture and accessories for outdoor living.

It was exciting to see this very busy event. Could this be a positive sign for the Interior and Home Building Industries in Arizona? We sure think so!

The Chef's Loft

Delicious food, live jazz, meeting and getting to know some great people… perfect!

Last Thursday night, Feb. the 4th, we attended the pre-grand opening of this brand new venue located in the heart of the Scottsdale Arts District. The Chef's Loft is a unique, multifunction, entertainment setting designed to serve many purposes including the hosting of parties, charity events, and corporate meetings.

But wait, they go well beyond that with their fully appointed studio kitchen, equipped with sound and video recording capabilities! The 3,300 square foot studio located at Southbridge,  at the Scottsdale Waterfront, is built to produce quality culinary entertainment including lifestyle television shows, documentaries, commercials and more that promote growth, team building, mentoring and recognition, connecting today’s top professional chefs, with the dining public.

This is really a space open to possibilities! A place where you could create a unique experience for your party. How about hosting a hands-on cooking workshop for you and your guests? What a great way to promote teamwork for a company event, too!

The Chef's Loft has an intimate piano bar setting, where on this night the bartender served up a new cocktail called a B-29. This yummy and potent libation was made with Vodka, Vanilla Rum and their very own "J.J's Root Beer".  This house root beer was created by J.J. Laszlo, father of The Chef's Loft owner, Michael Laszlo. Everyone who visits The Chef's Loft is sure to meet J.J. who, even in his 80's, can be found hobnobbing with guests, sharing stories, and just having a good time.

Well, for this good time, we were invited by The Chef's Loft's, "party diva", Maria Arnold-Hayden. Maria's energy and enthusiasm is contagious. Having encouraged us to show a few of our vintage inspired art pieces during the pre-grand opening event, we've been asked to show again, next time for the Grand Opening. We'll have to keep you posted on that! We hear they are also planning to host weekly live jazz nights, too!

Here are some pics:

Serving up delicious tastes.

Iron Doors, Personalized.

We recently finished installation on this custom iron door, personalized with the client’s family initial by incorporating the “W” as the door pull. The double door stands over 12 feet high and 8 feet wide. The client wanted a custom “cool silver” finish to complement the metallic details found throughout the home’s interior. The final effect is quite stunning!

We worked closely with Hacienda Restorations, LLC and with interior designer Jane Dugan to complete this custom order which also included a custom iron door for the master bath.

So this project had us thinking about monograms.

Did you know that monograms were first used as currency? Appearing on clay pieces with the current ruler’s initials, these coins played a part in the transition of the bartering system to money exchange. Recognized as a royal signature, the monogram’s use continued to evolve through the Victorian era for personal use as a symbol of place in society.

Although, they have transcended royalty’s use alone, monograms still carry a distinguished air about them. Appearing on all kinds of products for the home, like…

How have you personalized your home?
